Bharathiar University, Coimbatore invites applications for two positions of Project Associate‑I under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) funded project titled “Production of deep‑sea crustacean‑derived natural astaxanthin and validation of its antihyperglycemic properties using zebrafish model.”
This project is part of the Deep Ocean Mission (DOM) Programme of the Government of India and is led by Dr. T. Muralisankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Bharathiar University.

This recruitment offers an opportunity for postgraduate candidates in Zoology or Marine Biology to contribute to advanced marine biotechnology research under India’s Deep Ocean Mission.
🎓 Eligibility & Desirable Experience
Essential Qualification
- First‑class M.Sc. in Zoology or Marine Biology from a recognized university.
Age Limit
Upper age limit: 28 years.
Desirable Experience
- Hands‑on experience in extraction, purification, and analysis of pigments and bioactive compounds.
- Familiarity with advanced instrumentation techniques such as HPLC and GC‑MS.
- Experience in handling zebrafish models for biological research.
- Essential knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
Candidates with strong laboratory skills and prior research experience in marine biology or biochemistry will be preferred.
💰 Stipend & Duration
Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a consolidated stipend of ₹25,000 + HRA per month.
Duration
The appointment will be for 7 months or until the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
This short‑term research opportunity provides financial support along with valuable experience in marine biotechnology and molecular biology under the Deep Ocean Mission programme.
