About the Recruitment

AIIMS is inviting online applications from Indian Citizens (including OCI/PIO) for Junior Resident (JR) posts for the July 2026 session. The tenure will be from 01 July 2026 to 31 December 2026.

Pay Scale

Junior Residents will be appointed at Level 10 of Pay Matrix (pre€‘revised Pay Band€‘3: ‚¹15,600 + ‚¹5,400 GP) with an entry pay of ‚¹56,100 per month plus allowances.

Security Deposit

All provisionally eligible candidates must deposit a security amount of ‚¹25,000 through electronic fund transfer while filling the application form.

A total of 220 Junior Resident posts are available across multiple departments (e.g., Blood Bank, Burns & Plastic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Radiotherapy, etc.).

Reservation

Reservation is provided as per Central Government rules for OBC, SC, ST, EWS candidates, and 4% horizontal reservation for PWD (including OPH) candidates.

Step€‘by€‘Step Process

  1. Visit Website: Go to www.aiimsexams.ac.in between 1 June 2026 and 15 June 2026 (5:00 PM).
  2. Register Online: Fill the online application form in the prescribed format. Enter your personal details, educational qualifications, and internship completion information.
  3. Select Departments: Choose your preferred speciality/department in order of preference. You can edit and reorder choices until final submission.
  4. Candidates applying under reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PWD) must upload valid certificates in the prescribed format.
  5. Deposit Security Amount: Pay a ‚¹25,000 security deposit via electronic fund transfer. Only candidates who pay this deposit will be eligible for seat allocation.
  6. Submit Application: Review all details carefully and submit the form online. Incomplete registration will lead to rejection.
  7. Print Application: Take a printout of the submitted application form and your choice list for future reference.

Important Notes

  • Applications are accepted only online. No paper forms will be considered.
  • OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be valid for FY€¯2026€‘27 and issued between 1 April 2026 and 15 June 2026.

Educational Qualification

  • You must have passed MBBS or BDS (including completion of Internship) from a recognized institute.
  • Only those who completed MBBS/BDS between 01 July 2023 and 30 June 2026 are eligible.
  • DMC/DDC Registration is mandatory before joining.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Candidates who were terminated earlier from AIIMS Junior Residency due to disciplinary reasons are not eligible.
  • Maximum of three terms (each term = 6 months) of Junior Residency are allowed.
  • AIIMS graduates will be given preference in allotment of posts.

Selection Process

  1. Preference to AIIMS Graduates: Merit will be based on aggregate marks in I, II, and Final Professional exams.
  2. Other Candidates: Merit will be based on rank in INI€‘CET PG Entrance Exam (July 2026). Those who did not appear will be ranked after INI€‘CET candidates, based on MBBS/BDS marks.
  3. Foreign Graduates: OCI/PIO candidates with MBBS from outside India must have passed the MCI screening test. Their merit will be based on MCI exam marks.
  4. Counselling: Conducted strictly in merit order. Candidates choose departments based on availability.
  5. Reserved Category: Candidates in combined merit list can opt for both unreserved and reserved seats. Reserved seats will be allotted only if the choice is available in reserved category.
  6. PWD Candidates: Considered against posts in their category (UR/EWS/SC/ST/OBC). Joining allowed only after medical fitness certification by a Medical Board.

Important Notes

  • Number of vacancies is provisional and may change at the time of selection.
  • Invalid OBC (NCL)/EWS certificates will cancel reserved category candidature; such candidates will be considered under UR category as per merit.

Documents Required

  • No documents are needed while submitting the online form.
  • At the time of counselling and joining, candidates must bring originals and one set of attested copies of:
    • MBBS/BDS Degree Certificate
    • Mark sheets
    • Internship Completion Certificate
    • Date of Birth proof
    • Caste certificate (EWS/OBC/SC/ST) if applicable
    • PWD certificate if applicable
    • DMC/DDC Registration
  • Original MBBS/BDS Degree and Internship Completion Certificate will be retained by AIIMS during tenure.

Security Deposit

  • All candidates must deposit ‚¹25,000 as a security amount via electronic fund transfer while applying.
  • Only those who pay this deposit will be eligible for seat allocation.
  • If a candidate is allotted a post but does not join, the security deposit will be forfeited.
  • Refunds (if eligible) will be processed only after completion of all counselling rounds, into the same bank account used for payment.

Joining & Resignation Rules

  • Junior Residents cannot resign before completing 3 months of service.
  • If resignation is given before 3 months:
    • No experience certificate will be issued.
    • Candidate must give one month€™s notice or deposit pay/allowances for the shortfall period.
  • Leave entitlement: 2.5 days per month + 5 days commuted leave in 6 months.
  • Absence without permission for more than 7 days will lead to termination.
